"MIN STORA DAG” grants critically ill children's wishes

The goal of "MinStoraDag", (My Big Day), is to grant wishes to critically ill children (3-18yrs) who are suffering from life-threatening diseases.  The foundation's work is unique as each child is actively involved in planning his or her own wish.

What makes "MinStoraDag" unique is that, with the cooperation of Sweden's University Hospitals, the child's primary physician, working with the child and their family, refers the children and their wishes to the foundation which, in turn, helps make their wishes come true!

The foundation "MIN STORA DAG"s activities

A wish for a" Big Day" can vary a lot: Fanny, a child of 10, now has a puppy, Emma who is 4, took a trip with her family to visit distant relatives. Johan, 13 years old travelled to Legoland in Denmark with his family and Daniel got to meet the famous football player Henke Larsson for a few hours and was VIP-guest at a game.

In addition, the foundation makes it possible for smaller groups of children to attend pop concerts, circus-shows, motor-shows and other special events.  They also arrange camps which include sailing and other sporting activities.

In 2008 "MinStoraDag" completed 283 projects of which 137 were "Big Days", 140 were group activities and six were camps.

Many are involved in the project

"MinStoraDag" is very fortunate to have as its patron, Her Royal Highness, Princess Madeleine, who is very engaged and regularly visits the children at the hospitals.  Her most recent hospital visit was in Lund.

The official Goodwill Ambassadors for "MinStoraDag" are the two popular television hosts Martin Timell and Tobbe Blom , the artist Nanne Grönvall and adventurour Johan Ernst Nilson , as well as a world champion high jumper, Kajsa Bergqvist .  In addition to visiting the children at the hospitals they generously donate their time and their talents to our fundraising endeavours.

Funding

"MinStoraDag" does not receive any government funds but is completely dependant on generous donations from companies, other foundations and private citizens. The foundation holds a Swedish 90-account and is under strict, yearly, regulation by The Swedish Foundation for Regulated Donations (Stiftelsen för Insamlingskontroll) in association with ICFO (International Committee for Fundraising Organizations).
